Electrotren
Electrotren was founded in Spain in 1951 by Jaime Gonzalez Forellach. The time was one of economic hardship in Spain due to the Civil War and subsequent European isolationism, and Jaime Gonzalez did not have the necessary materials or the economic support to produce trains, initially using empty tomato and olive tins to serve as the material for his first models made of stamped sheet metal.
In 1954 the business began to take off and moved from Barcelona to Madrid, continuing to manufacture locomotives and wagons in both H0 and N scale, and becoming the largest brand of RENFE model trains. In 2004 Hornby acquired the company from its founder and Electrotren became one of many brands under Hornby along with Lima, Rivarossi and Jouef.
