Liliput

liliput

Liliput was founded in 1947 by Walter Bücherl in Vienna, Austria. Initially only 00 gauge sheet metal railways were manufactured, but after a few years Liliput also began to produce plastic models, and in the 1960s switched from a toy manufacturer to producing only model railway products. In the early years, there was a great rivalry with the competitor Kleinbahn, which was also based in Vienna. At the end of the 1980s, Liliput ran into financial difficulties, and the car model manufacturer Herpa initially appeared as a new partner, but this partnership was short-lived. In 1992 the British model railway manufacturer Bachmann Europe Plc., a subsidiary of the American Bachmann Industries, took over Liliput and the brand still produces a wide variety of models in H0, H0e and N gauge.
