Twin Unit Diesel. German Federal Railways class 236. 2 units permanently coupled. All wheels powered. 4 non-skid tires. 2 motors. Illuminated triple headlights at each end. Colorful body. Metal underbody. RELEX couplers at each end. Electronically controlled direction switch. Length over buffers 21.4 cm (8-1/2").
A single class 236 often did not have enough power to move certain trains. For this reason, these diesels were usually operated in tandem. In fact, they were designed with such an operation in mind and both diesels can be controlled from a single cab.
