On July 15, 1923, President Warren G. Harding completed the expansion of the rail route from the coast to the interior of Alaska with the driving of the last spike. After years of immense effort Alaska was opened up with this rail line and the "Alaska Railroad (ARR)" was created.

 

This model was produced as a one-time series only in 1993 under the theme "70 Years of the Alaska Railroad".
