The SNCF used these old but fast locomotives to power the "Corail" passenger trains. To give these trains a sleek streamlined look, the locomotives were painted in the "Corail" colors.
Class BB 9200 locomotives had 4 motors which developed a total hourly rating of 4050 kW. These electrics weighed 80 tons and were capable of 160 km/h (100 mph) on certain routes.
