Additional information

Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) class 460 (Re 4/4VI). Road number 460 045-8 "Rigi". With DELTA electronic circuit. 2 axles powered. 4 traction tires. Engineer's cabs with interior details. Prototypical warning horns. Length over buffers 21.3 cm (8-3/8").

In August of 1991 the prototype of the final "Locomotive 2000" was presented to the public in Switzerland: the Re 4/4 or, according to the new numbering system, the class 460. By 1994 the SBB had placed 120 of these modern general purpose locomotives into service. The class 460 clearly stood out from the SBB's other locomotives with its enormous power of 6,100 kilowatts (approx. 8,180 horsepower), its maximum speed of 230 km/h (144 mph) and its modern design.

Note: This locomotive with the same Märklin product number had multiple different road numbers and lettering throughout its production from 1992 until 1999.
